MISS ARIZONA 2016
An ASU Honors graduate of Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, 22-year-old Katelyn Niemiec is a passionate advocate for the prevention of bullying, having devoted more than 5,000 hours to her personal platform. Her program, Bullying S.T.O.P.S. Here, has been shared in numerous schools and workshops across the valley over the past six years. Additionally, Katelyn serves as Vice-President for Winged Hope Family Advocacy Foundation, where she has raised $7,000 to benefit survivors of child abuse and domestic violence. A sports fanatic, she reported on Super Bowl XLIX and has hosted a show on Fox Sports Arizona.
MISS ARIZONA'S OUTSTANDING TEEN 2016
A Senior at Hamilton High School in Chandler, 17-year-old Elan Morris has more than 12 years of dance training under her belt and is a three-time Regional Outstanding Dancer, performing with the Moscow Ballet and Radio City Musical Hall Rockettes. Her platform, Healthy Relationships: Taking Action From the Start, focuses on teaching young people about the early warning signs of unhealthy relationships, while aiding local domestic violence shelters. Elan’s career goal is to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Design and become a residential architect.
